Maja Petric is a Seattle-based artist who uses cutting-edge technology to create transformative experiences. She received her Ph.D. in Digital Arts and Experimental Media from the University of Washington and a master’s in Interactive Telecommunications from New York University on the topic of transforming the poetic experience of space through the experimental use of technology. She teaches internationally and directs a first-of-its-kind Master’s program on Creative Lighting at the European Institute of Design. Her research is also being published in a book, History of Light in Art.
Petric’s artwork has been exhibited at Microsoft Research Gallery, Henry Art Gallery, Gallery 4Culture, Matadero, and Medialab Prado. She has received and been nominated for many awards, including the Microsoft Research Residency Award, Richard Kelly Light Art Award, National Science Foundation Doctoral Fellowship, FastCo. Innovation by Design Award, and International Light Art Award.
