John Sutton, Ben Beres, and Zac Culler form the Seattle-based art collective SuttonBeresCuller. They have been working collaboratively since 2000 and have developed a wide-ranging practice that includes installation, performance, and public projects. Their works engage viewers through mental or physical interactions, or by rejecting the confines of gallery and museum walls in the form of mobile sculpture, street actions, and temporary site-specific installations.
Their list of exhibitions and performances is extensive, including venues in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Canada, Novi Sad, Serbia, and Shenzhen, China. In the Seattle area, these include the Frye Art Museum, the Henry Art Gallery, Kirkland Art Center, Whatcom Museum, Museum of Northwest Art, and Tacoma Art Museum.They have received awards and grants from the Jentel Foundation, Art Matters, The MacDowell Colony, 4Culture, and Creative Capital Foundation, among others. These specifically include the Kayla Skinner Special Recognition Award (Seattle Art Museum), Arts Innovator Special Recognition Award (Artist Trust), and the Tony Angell Sculpture Award (Museum of Northwest Art).
