MadArt in the Park, Cal Anderson Park

MadArt in the Park - Inception

August 1 – September 12, 2010

The success of the Window Art Project created an inviting atmosphere for a new MadArt event for 2010. MadArt in the Park is the culmination of both MadArt’s mission to bring art into people’s lives in unexpected ways, and the Seattle Parks Department’s wish to engage the community in vital outdoor activities.

Cal Anderson Park, the site selected for the 2010 event, lends itself well to its mission to engage the community in the dialog of the creative art process. From a federally mandated reservoir renovation project to its 2009 ranking as one of 12 best city parks in the United States, Cal Anderson Park offers a “sense of escape” within the city. Cal Anderson Park features a unique architectural landscape (once an open reservoir) which now serves the park as a great open space.

For two weeks (August 1-12), in an artist to community dialog, the final stages of the creative process will go live for the public to experience and witness. Watching art being made and conversing with the artists are key elements of Milliman’s vision for community involvement.
